Visitation Ministries Program

After much prayer and discernment, Visitation Ministries is entering an exciting new chapter in our mission. For many years, we have accompanied economically vulnerable families in San Antonio, helping them build pathways toward greater stability through education, employment, and empowerment. While we are no longer providing housing assistance, that same mission continues to guide our work today.

Visitation Ministries is launching a new initiative to support pregnant and parenting college students across San Antonio, beginning with a pilot program this fall. Our goal is to help students remain in school, achieve their educational and professional goals, and create greater opportunities for themselves and their families.

More than 3.1 million undergraduate students in the United States are parents, yet only 18% complete a degree within six years, compared with 54% of their peers. For parenting students, pursuing higher education often means navigating academic goals alongside work, childcare, financial responsibilities, and family life.

Our research and conversations across San Antonio have shown us that many valuable resources already exist. The challenge is often connecting students to them at the right time and in a way that feels personal and accessible. Visitation Ministries hopes to help bridge that gap by walking alongside students, providing individualized guidance and mentorship, strengthening connections to existing resources, and creating opportunities for community and belonging.

We believe this is work no single organization can do alone. By collaborating with colleges and universities, community organizations, healthcare partners, foundations, mentors, and others who share this commitment, we have an opportunity to build a stronger network of support for pregnant and parenting students throughout San Antonio — and to create an impact that extends from one student to an entire family.

We are grateful for everyone who has been part of the Visitation Ministries journey and invite our community to continue walking with us as this new chapter unfolds.
